‘Trolling me, my wife’: Sameer Wankhede tells Delhi HC; summons issued to makers of ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ | Hindi Movie News

Sameer Wankhede has taken legal action against the makers of ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, accusing them of damaging his reputation and spreading misleading impressions about him. On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court issued notices to all the defendants in the matter, directing them to respond to the allegations.
Delhi High Court issues summons to defendants
As reported by PTI, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav has issued summons to all the defendants, Gauri Khan-owned Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited, Netflix, X Corp (formerly Twitter), Google LLC, Meta Platforms, RPSG Lifestyle Media Private Limited, and John Doe, on the defamation suit. The court has asked them to file their replies within seven days.The court also directed the defendants to submit their replies to Wankhede’s request to take down the alleged defamatory content from various websites. However, the court did not pass any interim injunction order at this stage.The matter has been listed for further hearing on October 30.
Sameer Wankhede raises concern over family trolling
As reported by LiveLaw, Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi, appearing for Wankhede, stated, “In reference to the series, there are posts trolling me, my wife and my sister. Ex facie defamatory. It’s shocking. They (defendants) are surely not defending those posts.”The court, while responding orally, said, “We appreciate that there is cause in your favour to approach this court but there is a process to be followed.” Following this observation, the court issued the summons.
Sameer Wankhede seeks damages for defamation claim
As per PTI, Wankhede has sought Rs 2 crore in damages, which he intends to donate to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for cancer patients. The plea stated, “This series disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions.”It further added that the series was “deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign Wankhede’s reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner.”The plea also mentioned that this was done despite the case involving the officer and Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan being still pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.
