‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ box office collection day 8: The Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor starrer touches Rs 40 crore in first week amidst competition from ‘Kantara’ | Hindi Movie News

Just when one thought that love stories or romcoms are no longer for the big screen as people prefer to watch them on OTT, we had Mohit Suri‘s ‘Saiyaara’ coming in and shattering all the records. That gave hope to ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf. The film has been getting rave reviews but unfortunately that did not translate to box office numbers. It clashed at the box office with the Rishab Shetty magnum opus ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ which is shattering box office records. Of course, the budget, scale of both these movies are different. So, one cannot even expect ‘SSKTK’ to bring in those huge numbers.As per Sacnilk, ‘SSKTK’ made Rs 9.25 crore on day 1. The film saw a drop on day 2 which is Friday and made only Rs 5.5 crore. But there was growth as compared to that over the weekend. It made Rs 7.5 crore respectively on Saturday and Sunday each. It began seeing a drop from Monday onwards, gradually and started making in the Rs 2-3 crore range. On Tuesday, it made Rs 3.25 crore as it must have benefitted from the discounted ticket prices. On Wednesday, it collected Rs 2.25 crore and on Thursday, which is day 8, it garnered Rs 2 crore. The total collection now stands at Rs 40. 75 crore. On the other hand, ‘Kantara’ has remained steady and has crossed Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office.
