Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Rs 100-crore defamation case against his brother, Shamasuddin Siddiqui, and ex-wife, Anjana Pandey, has been dismissed by the Bombay High Court. As per the report, the case traces back to 2008 when Nawazuddin had appointed his brother, Shamasuddin, as his manager. He was entrusted with handling Nawazuddin’s bank accounts, auditing them, filing income tax returns, and paying other taxes.Over time, Nawazuddin alleged, he discovered that Shamasuddin had been buying joint properties in both their names using funds from Nawazuddin’s accounts.

According to the petition, while Shamasuddin claimed the properties were in his name, documents revealed otherwise. The purchases included plots, flats, and farmhouses at prime locations like Versova in Mumbai and even Dubai.When Nawazuddin confronted his brother, he alleged that Shamasuddin instigated his ex-wife, Pandey, to file false cases against him. Several “false applications and FIRs” were then filed, including allegations of rape and cheating, the petition said.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui alleges marriage deception by ex-wife
The report further reveals that Nawazuddin also claimed that before marrying Pandey, he was told she was a Muslim and unmarried. He later found out she was Hindu and already married to someone else. He accused his brother and ex-wife of trying to defraud him. “They have misappropriated more than Rs 21 crore from the account of the plaintiff. He was shocked to find out that if people from his own family are of such nature, then who can he trust,” the petition said.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui cites private recordings and tax issues
The actor alleged that Shamasuddin had created a system to damage his image. He said his brother kept recording every important conversation, both officially and unofficially. “He is in possession of various videos and voice notes, which are personal in nature. This was done with the sole intention that if the fraud is uncovered in future, then the defendant will use these private conversations, videos and the information against the actor to shut his mouth,” the petition said. The petition added that Shamasuddin also failed to file income tax returns and pay GST, resulting in dues of Rs 37 crore.
Family actions affected Nawazuddin’s film projects
Nawazuddin further alleged that his brother and ex-wife encouraged family members to give false statements to the media to defame him. This, he claimed, caused delays in his film projects due to a negative atmosphere.“The plaintiff is in a very dangerous position in his life, where he has developed trauma and depression. He is not getting any new films because of this negative atmosphere being created by his own family. They are working as a syndicate to spread misinformation against him, which has brought his 23 years of hard work and reputation to ground,” the petition added.He had sought directions from the court to stop his brother, ex-wife, and their agents from posting defamatory articles and demanded Rs 100 crore as compensation.
Suit dismissed due to actor’s absence in court
Since Nawazuddin and his lawyer were not present in court, the bench dismissed the suit for “non-prosecution”. This meant the actor and his lawyer did not take the necessary steps to proceed with the case.Representing Shamasuddin, advocates Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, Snigdha Khandelwal, and Farid Shaikh called the case baseless. “It was only filed to pressurise my client in their personal financial disputes,” said Deshmukh.
