Actor and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt is known to always speak candidly about her life and put forward her opinions honestly always, just like her father, Mahesh Bhatt. The family is known to be complex but they’ve often addressed these complexities and emotions quite publicly. As Pooja has turned a podcast host now, in her recent interview with father Mahesh Bhatt, she recalled a heart-wrenching incident from her childhood which left a huge mark on her. She opened up on the time when her mother Kiran Bhatt locked Mahesh Bhatt in the balcony as he came home drunk. She said on The Pooja Bhatt podcast, “The time when we were in Silversands, you came back home drunk and fumbling one night, and you went into the balcony. That must have been a recurring nightmare for my mother, so she had gotten up and locked you in there with the ocean roaring outside.”
She added, “You were knocking, saying, ‘Let me in, Kiran, Pooja,’ I could hear your voice echoing with the ocean roaring behind you. It’s still stuck in my head. I tried to open the door, but my mother stopped me, saying, ‘You cannot go and open the door, he drinks every night, it’s not good for him. He has to learn.’”Pooja admitted, “I think the truth is that I came on your side and never left it ever after that.” The ‘Zakhm’ actress also admitted to the fact that her father confided in her when he was in a relationship with Soni. She said, “I was just privileged to be treated as an equal, where you told me this even before you told my mother. I feel it’s very important for children to also give their parents a break and look at them as human beings.” Soni Razdan and Mahesh Bhatt have two daughters – Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt.
