Rohit Sharma and his wife burst out laughing at ‘MS Dhoni’s’ mimicry – watch | Cricket News

Rohit Sharma may no longer be India’s ODI captain, but the veteran batter remains very much in the spotlight, and this time for an off-field moment that had everyone in splits. At the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai, Rohit, seated beside his wife Ritika Sajdeh, couldn’t contain his laughter as a mimicry artist delivered a spot-on imitation of former India skipper MS Dhoni.
As the artist switched to Dhoni’s familiar voice, Rohit burst into laughter, turning back toward Ritika, who herself reacted with a mix of amusement and disbelief. The couple’s reactions quickly went viral, with fans online praising the artist’s accuracy and Rohit’s unfiltered response.Watch Rohit’s reaction here While other cricketing personalities’ voices were mimicked that evening, it was the imitation of Dhoni, who is Rohit’s ex-captain and long-time teammate that stole the show. The light-hearted moment came on a night when Rohit also reflected on a far more serious journey – that of India’s rise from the heartbreak of the 2023 ODI World Cup final to winning back-to-back ICC titles in 2024 and 2025. Speaking at the same event, the 38-year-old credited the team’s transformation to former head coach Rahul Dravid and the squad’s collective belief. “Look, I love that team, loved playing with them and it’s a journey that we were all into for many years,” Rohit said. “We’d come so close to winning that trophy many times but we couldn’t just get over the line. That is where everyone decided that we need to do something different.”

Rohit went on to explain how India’s turnaround was built on mindset and unity. “It cannot be done by one or two players. We needed everyone to buy into that thought, which was good from everyone,” he added. Now having handed over India’s ODI and Test captaincy to Shubman Gill, Rohit remains part of the national setup and will travel with Virat Kohli for the upcoming ODI series in Australia starting October 19.
